sitemap.xml

An XML file listing the URLs of a website. This file communicates to bots and crawlers what files and information are available on a site. When search engines are crawling a website, they will review the sitemap to understand what is important and how to navigate the site to find documents and files. This is different than a site map HTML file, which is used to show people the areas of a website.
