referring domain

The number of referring domains is more important than the number of backlinks. Referring Domain, also know as ref domain, represents the domain that people came from when visiting your site. It is basically the domain from which an inbound link is pointing to a certain page. If, for instance, you are looking in Google for a part of your website and Google returns your site in the search list, when you access your site from that list, the referring domain will be Google.com. If people are talking about your site on forums and someone links to your site from that forum, then the forum will be the referring domain. The number of referring domains is more important than the number of backlinks.
