The unproven hypothetical practice of managing internal linking structures at a granular, link-by-link level so as to direct the flow of PageRank and/or PageRank-like value within a Web site. Has been associated with PageRank Hoarding (q.v.) and PageRank Management (q.v.). In 2008 Google altered the way it processes internal PageRank allocation across its index to defuse the harm that PageRank Sculpting inflicts on Websites. Also called Conserving Indexation and Indexation conservation.
