href and a href

Href, short for Hyperlink Reference, is an attribute of the anchor tag or what we know as a link. The href specifies the source where the anchor tag should point to. It can be internal (your own website) or external (another website), relative (/page/) or absolute (www.site.com/page). A full anchor tag with href also contains an anchor text and would look something like this: anchor text.
